In this listing we have an artistic Alpaca Bombilla. This wonderful bombilla was handmade in the Buenos Aires province without the utilization of complex tools by skillful South American craftsmen.
This is an example of the unique artistry of South American craftsmanship.
We met Riki in Plaza Francia, a large park in Buenos Aires, on a Saturday morning in December 2006. Plaza Francia is a hub where artisans meet to display and sell their wares. Riki is an old time metal smith who is well known among the artisans there. He creates his beautiful Alpaca Silver bombillas without the use of any modern tools.
I sell Riki's mates and bombillas because he is a family man making an honest living off his craft. I support as many artisans as I can in their efforts to provide a better quality of life for their families.

The Best Artisan Bombilla we Know
THIS TRULY IS A UNIQUELY HANDCRAFTED BOMBILLA
This artistic rendition of the Bombilla is made from Alpaca Silver. It measures 6.5 to 6.75 inches long.
It is very easy to clean, just pull back the spring loaded cover and rinse with warm water and mild detergent. The strainer is designed so it will not get clogged with yerba mate.
The bombilla's design and length varies slightly.
It is used to drink Yerba Mate from the mate gourd. The straw ensures that only the beverage and not the leaves reach the drinkers lips. Mate is consumed mainly in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and southern Brazil. It is brewed from the dried leaves and stems of the Yerba Mate tree (Ilex paraguarensis).
Alpaca Silver is not a true silver. It is an alloy of cooper, nickel and zinc. This alloy has properties much like stainless steel.

This Bombilla was handcrafted in South America, it was created with a lot of care and dedication.
