    Description

Beautiful Antique Japanese Lacquered Hand-Decorated/Carved Wood Covered Tableware Bowl that was a bring back from Japan by soldier stationed there in aftermath of WWII. The bowl measures roughly 9.5” in diameter and stands roughly 5” in height from top of lid to bottom. The opening to the top measures 4.75” in diameter. The bowl is inlaid with lacquered piping around the outside and to the lid with what appears as bamboo strips. The hand carving depicts what appears as mountain and coastal communities with people engaged in play/work, sun, sky and birds in flight. Conditionally, the bowl has a nice patina with some natural crazing to the lacquered finishing, couple of minor under edge rim blems on the lid and several small areas of deterioration to bowl’s piping, but overall this bowl is well preserved, intact and displays handsomely.
