    Description

Natural coffee brown aguayo with colored stripes and symbols in white, orange, red, indigo, green, and magenta. The dominate symbol is of a large and smaller bird together in alternating green and magenta. On the opposite side the birds are white and the background alternates in green and magenta. Colors and symbols have meaning to the weaver, often
telling stories of their community or showing symbols related to the region in which they live.
Traditional weaving such as this is the essence of Quechua culture that has been handed down over many centuries.
    Dimensions are 46” x 36-1/2”. Warp count is 22 per 1”.
This aguayo was acquired in Cochabamba, Bolivia in 1967.
