Excellent piece of History!HOW OFTEN DO YOU FIND A PIECE LIKE THIS THAT LOOKS GOOD AND WORKS????
I bought this lovely piece from a lady who kept it after her grandmother passed away. I found part of the manual online (I didn't want to pay for the full version). I believe this to be in the 1940's era.
While I was working to restore the cabinet, my fiancé was trying to get the electronics working. When I heard the radio and phonograph playing, I STOPPED!
I'd like to see someone who is more experienced then I am to complete the restoration of this piece.
Cabinet:
Approximate measurements:
34"H x 25"W x 16"D
Power:
Electric, and Everything Works!! Also, see picture of tubes lit up.
Check out the 3 video's on YouTube listed as: GE Phonograph Combination Model 740
Radio:
IT WORKS!!
The face plate is in excellent condition.
Record Changer:
IT WORKS!!
Is on metal slides and pulls out part of the way using the knob in the front.
The felt appears to be in decent shape.
I believe the part number for this item is P15.
Speaker:
Speaker cone needs replaced. I'll be including a non original Knight speaker. The speaker grill cloth was half gone, but I have a small piece of the original material.
This is a great piece of history, and would be even better once it's restored!!
Please see my pictures for condition and what's included in this listing.
I can send more pictures if needed and a video of everything playing for those serious buyers.
Coming from a smoke-free home.
Thanks for looking!
