    Description

These are the "ULTIMATE" insert plates.  Heavy weight, solid billet aluminum throat plates for the vintage Delta Unisaw
    right tilt
    table saw.
WE INTRODUCED THESE A COUPLE OF YEARS, AND HAVE SOLD HUNDREDS.
Now you can replace that broken and/or chewed up OEM die cast insert plate on your  vintage Unisaw with this heavy weight billet aluminum insert.
There are lots of marred and nicked stock insert plates offered on eBay....and many companies offer new zero clearance inserts for table saws, usually made from wood, plastic, laminate stock, or something similar.
For our inserts, we spared no expense.  These inserts are  manufactured from 1/2" thick 6061 billet aluminum plate. Each is heavy and solid, and will provide decades of service.  These Unisaw inserts are approximately 13.375" long and 3.75" wide.
We now have six different styles of Unisaw insert plates available:
    Type A  -  Zero Clearance
    Type B  -  6" Dado
Type C  -  Standard Blade Slot
Type D  -  Standard Blade Slot with Guard Opening
Type E  -  Molding Head Cutter
    Type F  -  8" Dado
    The price listed is for
    one
    insert
    of your choice.
Full descriptions of each are listed below.
Our inserts are CNC machined from top quality billet aluminum plate.  The profile is precision machined to correctly fit the saw's opening. All of our inserts have f
our (4) holes for leveling the insert in the saw.  These holes are through-tapped 1/4-28 to allow for easy adjustment of the leveling screws with a hex key from the topside, with the insert in place on the saw.
Four (4) socket type leveling screws installed in each insert for leveling.
All of our Unisaw inserts also have an 1/8" stainless steel roll pin installed in the rear end of the plate to prevent the plate from lifting during use.  Each also has a 10-32 setscrew positioned directly above the 1/8" pin to allow for adjustment to minimize the plate's end play clearance in the saw's opening.
The bottom edge at the heel of each plate has been radius cut to provide addirional clearance for our close fitting plate as it is inserted into the saw's opening.
For some time now, we have added a rib on the backside across the  width of the depression where the blades slots are cut.  The rib is outside of the blade area, stiffens the insert, and allowed for us to introduce the Type D insert style with the blade guard slot milled out the rear of the insert.
Our newest modification, is the addition of a secondary depression on the backside.  This provides additional clearance when cutting high at a 45 degree angle when running our heavy duty thicker-than-most arbor nut.
Delta built Unisaws over a period of 75 plus years and at several locations across the states.  Not all table top opening are exactly the same size,  since computer aided machining wasn't available last century.  Our inserts are CNC machined to the dimensions we found most consistent.  Minor filing or sanding may be required if your table has a unique insert opening.  Length of the openings has never been found to vary, however some Unisaw table openings may be a bit narrower from side to side.  We have found that the maximum stock removal to never be more than about .016" from the width, and can be readily accomplished by sanding the flat sides of the insert.
See the photos to better identify each of the six styles of insert that are described below:
Type A - Zero clearance insert
This insert is the zero clearance insert.  The blade slot is cut in this insert by the saw's own blade, thus creating the least clearance possible between the blade and the insert.
Cutting the blade clearance slot with the insert in position on the saw is easy and safe, even in our aluminum insert, if you follow our included instructions and use a carbide tooth saw blade.
A depression is milled in the backside of the plate to reduce the material thickness in the area where the blade clearance is to be cut.  The depression has been designed to facilitate a zero clearance cut for the blade in the vertical position as well as through the total angular stroke of the blade to its 45 degree position.
Instructions on the correct procedure and how to set up  proper, but simple,  protection when cutting the zero clearance slot are included with each zero clearance insert.  The clearance opening needs to be cut with the insert lubricated and covered by a
    sacrificial
piece of plywood or a wood board, clamped to the saw's table.  Our included instructions are clear and complete.
    Type B - 6" Dado insert
This insert is based on the same machined blank as is the zero clearance insert.  The 1.12"  x 5.62"  opening is then added to match the Unisaw's stock dado insert opening.  This insert is dimensionally the same as Delta's insert #34-254 and is intended to work with a 6" diameter dado set.
Type C - Standard or conventional ready-to-use insert
This insert is also based on the same machined blank as is the zero clearance insert, but then we add a standard 5/16" slot for the blade clearance.  This insert duplicates the stock conventional Delta Unisaw insert at the blade slot, but does not have the short slot at the rear to
    accommodate
the seldom used overhead blade guard.
Type D - Standard or conventional ready-to-use insert with the vintage style blade guard slot
This insert is the same as the Type C insert, but has the clearance slot added at the rear to
    accommodate
a vintage Delta Unisaw blade guard.
Type E - Molding head insert
This insert is based on the same machined blank as is the zero clearance insert.  The 1.24"  x 4.56"  opening is then added to
    accommodate
a three place molding head type cutter in lieu of a conventional saw blade.
    Type F -  8" Dado insert
This insert is based on the same machined blank as is the zero clearance insert.  The 1.12"  x 7.65"  opening is then added to match the Unisaw's stock 8" dado insert opening.  This insert is dimensionally the same as Delta's insert #34-264 and is intended to work with a 8" diameter dado set.
You won't find any better built, more robust Unisaw inserts than these.  Our inserts feature the use of 1/2" thick billet aluminum, precision CNC machining, a better a leveling screw design, the anti-lift pin, the extra heel clearance cut, and the end play adjustment screw.  These are all features that aren't found on the majority of after-market insert plates
