    Description

    Starrett Athol Mass Wood Instrument Box ONLY for Micrometer 20" 28"x 16"x 2" Vtg
    This is a Starrett wood instrument box ONLY...empty now. It measures 28 3/8" x 16" x 2". The front is marked by maker, " Starrett Athol, Mass. USA". The previous owner has carved into lid top, " 12G8753  Sect. 514-12M 3572   19"-20". There are two swing latches on the front to lock down lid. See photo of this detail.  This is a hinge style box. The inside is now missing a strip of wood that held the instrument in at one side. The box is in good order with dove tail corners. The L.S. Starrett Company is an American manufacturer of tools and instruments used by machinists and tool and die makers and was founded by Laroy Sunderland Starrett. The company founded in 1880's. This is a large item and in shipping box weighs about 9 lbs so expect shipping to reflect this.
