Description
This stately sterling silver water pitcher is solid and heavy, it weighs 850g. The hallmarks are "Liverpool" for the famous department store chain. (See the excerpt of Liverpool's history below.) The "Eagle 2" (or Eagle 102) and it may be a region between Mexico City and Taxco. The sterling purity is .925, and the maker's mark looks like "MBR" or "MPR". Also stamped is "Mexico Districto Federal".The 9th photo shows the delicate hammer marks on the inside of the piece. Definitely hand wrought fine silver. Just beautiful. As far as measurements, the belly is 6" round, and it is 8" high at the tip of the handle, and 8" wide including the handle.
Note: There is one small "dimple" on the left side, it is not a dent (it is small and does not show in the photos). There are no dents or scratches. The current owner purchased the piece in Mexico City, and there have been only two owners since this artist crafted pitcher was new. (I'm guessing its' age at somewhere between 1950 and 1970?)
(Can't exactly make out the hallmark, at first it looked like "Matl", or Matilde Eugenia Poulat, whose shop was in Mexico City. But, when you look at the stamp closer, it also looks like "MPR" or "MBR", but the stamp on the pitcher is cursive (like Matl) and not block letters (like MBR). So if you know more about Mexican hallmarks please message me with your opinion.)
