    Worn by a
    soldier
with the first name of 'Camaren' (last name unknown) who served as an airborne soldier during the Vietnam War. He hid his name as many soldier of this time did in the case of being captured. He used white paint and hid it on the inside of the liner strap located near the front of the helmet. The last name was once there but has faded with age and use.
Original Item: Only One Available. The M1 helmet is a combat helmet that was used by the United States military from World War II until 1985, when it was succeeded by the PASGT helmet. For over forty years, the M1 was standard issue for the U.S. military. The M1 helmet has become an icon of the American military, with its design inspiring other militaries around the world.
Vietnam War era M-1 helmet shells have a set of swivel (movable) chinstrap loops called bales and a stainless steel rim. These rims were both rust resistant and had non-magnetic qualities that reduced the chance of error readings when placed around certain sensitive equipment (such as a compass).
This helmet is a fine example and still retains all of its original Vietnam War parts and the shell has the original dark OD Green finish. The helmet cover is adorned with the
rare airborne straps and has the name of the soldier hidden on the inside helmet liner.
The airborne chin strap is original, and the ‘salty’ and used cover is original and in very good condition.
It has some stains and small holes around the edge, but is definitely solid, and is retained by the correct elastic fabric band around the outside.

These helmets have become increasingly difficult to find in recent years, especially genuine Vietnam War issue ones from the airborne units. Almost certainly to appreciate in value year after year!
Please note the photos of the
    soldiers
in the listing are of  'unknown' soldier who served in Vietnam with the same basic airborne
    division
and could or could not be
photos of Maledy. They are reference photos I have researched to go with the helmet. All were obtained and found electronically.
