    RAILROAD - GREAT NORTHERN - SILVER COMPOTE - MEDALLION PATTERN - BOTTOM MARKED
    Offered today is a silver pedestal compote from the Great Northern Railroad. It is the Medallion pattern and is approximately 7 3/4" wide from handle to handle and approximately 3" high. The rim has the "track" pattern and the two handles have the Great Northern entwined initials. The bottom is marked, "G.N.S. 14" and "1 Pts", and "International Silver Co. Silver Soldered" and the year "13" within a square. This compote has seen a lot of history; heavy use marks, both inside and outside the compote, a few small dings, and very heavy pitting in the bottom inside of the compote. However the pattern on the top rim and markings on the handles and bottom are extremely sharp. I would consider condition as fair, but if you don't have this piece in your collection, this would be a great addition as a starter piece.
