It's Vintage, It's a Rocket, It's a Lamp, It's No It's a Radio.......Yes, It's All of These Things!Sold in the Early 1940s, and Made from Bakelite, it's the Epitome of Lamp Design During the Atomic Era.
It Still Wows Me Every Time I Look at It.
The Radio Power Switch Clicks and Rotates, and the Tuning Dial Turns Freely as it Should, but the Radio Doesn't Work. Maybe an Easy Fix, but I'm a Lamp Guy, and Not a Radio Guy.
The Cord is In Good Shape, and So is the Switch, Which Lights Up the Bulb With an Easy Click.
It was repainted sometime in the past, all white, so I removed the paint off the base to reveal the original gold. There are some spots where the black bake lite shows. I could have repainted it with some brass colored paint that I have, but decided I liked it as it is. I could paint it for you if you prefer.
They Sold These Lamps With Several Different Styles of Shades, and I Think This One Most Closely Matches the Style of the Lamp.
It Does Have a Crack (barely visible) that has Started on the Edge of the Shade, Which Now Has a Drop of Super Glue to Keep it from Spreading.
It measures 22 3/4 inches from the base to the top of the Shade, and is 7 inches across at the Base.
I Think You'll Love an Appreciate Owning This Marvel.
Happy Vintage Lamp Hunting!!
