    Description

    Original Colteaux Window Card
This is an original window card used to promote a festival featuring Colteaux. The magician’s real name was Ted Colteaux.
It states: Big Home Coming Celebration / At Sibley, Ill. Friday and Saturday September 3 and 4 / Free Acts Day and Night! / Colteaux, The Magician “Punch and Judy” “Popeye” “Jimmie, The Talkie Kid” / Open Air… Dance Platform.
A “window card” is a poster that is used to promote a show or an event. It is made of stiff cardboard and is often placed at retail store windows. It is also used at theaters and at events in glass cases outside of the venue.
This original 14 x 22 inch, window card was purchased at auction from the David Price Egyptian Hall Museum (EHM 4695). It is not dated, although magic historians would be able to figure out rough dates, probably. Pre-owned but in good condition for its age. There is a crease in the middle from folding, which is how many of these were shipped to the theater. This also looks like it has been restored since there is a cloth/linen backing.
