Description
Presented for your consideration is this fine specimen of the famous "boonie hat" as worn during the Vietnam War and subsequent conflicts to the present day. This specimen is mint and remains sealed in the original plastic sleeve. Owing to its age, there are a couple of tiny holes in the plastic sleeve, but nothing obtrusive. Looking at the contract tag and the paper insert reveals that this specimen dates from 1969. The paper insert states that it is size 7 1/8, but the tag on the hat itself gives the size as 6 7/8. The formal name for this piece of headgear as used in Army supply channels is "HAT, CAMOUFLAGE TROPICAL COMBAT, TYPE II;" however, soldier and civilian alike colloquially refer to it as the "boonie hat." You can't get a better conditioned one than a specimen in the original packaging! I'll have to ship this in a medium Priority box to maintain the shape and integrity of the original packaging hence the cost.  This fine hat would complement any display or assemblage of militaria related to the war in Vietnam. Fine militaria from Brother Rabbit's hutch!
