    Description

This photo is an excellent quality 8” x 10” color glossy new reproduction photo of a  MACK B-81 Series Michigan Quad-Axle Dump Truck. As a straight Quad-Axle Dump Truck, it was capable of grossing 70,000# in the state of Michigan.
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION: I took this photo of “Miss Mack” on 1/30/1991 in Manchester, MI when this rig was parked for the Michigan winter. This blue Mack was either a Model B-81 or larger, with a steel dump body. This Mack had 2-lift axles with slightly smaller tires, one ahead of the live tandem, and one behind. As a Quad-Axle dump truck, it was capable of grossing 70,000#. When combined to the 6-axle Fruehauf Full Trailer behind it was connected to, this “Short Double” could gross 148,000# in the state of Michigan.
(Photo also is available pulling its 6-axle full-trailer, called a “Short Double” in Michigan.)
THE B-81 SERIES MACK: The B-81 Diesel Mack was introduced in 1955, followed by other B-80 Series models. The B-80 series of super-duty trucks for the construction industry and certain off-highway applications replaced the previous LJ and LM off-highway models. In general, the B-80 series had double channel frames, dual-reduction rear axles, transmissions up to 20-gears, and diesel engines from 170 to 320-hp. While using the common B Model cab, the B-80 series used an exposed cast-tank radiator and heavy-duty square military fenders. By 1966 some 3,815 B-81/B-813/B-815 models were produced, along with an additional 2,033 B-83/B-85/B-87 models. Before diesel power completely dominated the heavy truck market, an additional 373 gas powered B-80/B-86 models were also produced.
