Lovely VTG Gorham Sterling Silver Hand Chased Ice Water Tea Pitcher Large Size
Presented is a wonderful quality Gorham sterling silver water pitcher, dating to
around the 1920s-1930s. The pitcher is made in a classic helmet form, with
acanthus scroll form handle. The body of the pitcher is beautifully hand chased
with elegant decoration in the form of flowers, berries, and foliate scrolls,
all very detailed and well done. The pitcher is a very generous size and
capacity, 74 fluid ounces or 2.18 liters.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a small dent to one side,
which is not very large or noticeable. There is minor surface wear, but nothing
excessive. There are no splits, no other dents, no monograms, no monogram
removals, and no repairs.
The pitcher is hallmarked on the underside with the Gorham maker's mark as
well as sterling, the capacity, a product number 381, and the retailer, J.E.
Caldwell.
The pitcher stands about 9 3/4 inches tall at the highest point and measures
about 9 1/2 inches from handle to spout. The capacity is marked as 4 5/8 pints
(74 fluid ounces/2.18 liters)
The pitcher weighs 950 grams or 33.5 regular ounces.
