Details:
This is a vintage beautiful Japanese Suiban from Japan. Suiban is a container or a bowl specifically designed for Ikebana arrangement. When making Ikebana arrangement, Japanese often use a
kenzan, also called spiky frog, is a specific device used in the Japanese
art of flower arrangement Ikebana
for fixing the flowers in the container. It consists of a heavy lead plate with erected brass needles where the
stipes
are fixed.
When making Ikebana arrangement, floral designers place flowers onto Kenzan by inserting flower stems onto needles. In order to use Kenzan, we need a flat and shallow type container called Suiban and at the bottom of Suiban, Kenzan is firmly placed to support and hold flowers.
