A vintage Japanese Maritime Test Instrument housed in a custom Wooden Box.
We are pleased to present this vintage Japanese Scientific Test Instrument for your consideration. We are not sure exactly what it is, but believe it is a Maritime Test Probe or Hydrometer of some sort. The Instrument has a metal loop at the top. Below this is a compartment with a visible numeric scale. The compartment has a sliding door which can be closed. At the bottom of the Instrument is a large leather pad that is about 5 inches in diameter.

    K.S.F
    . The same
    K.S.F
. appears on the Instrument's scale, followed by
    TOKYO
. We did not find any other identifying marks (in English).
The Wooden Box measures 6 inches high, 16 inches wide, and 6-1/4 inches deep. With the Instrument in its custom cradle, the Box weighs 7 pounds 11 ounces. The Instrument itself measures 14-1/2 inches in length and weighs 3 pounds 12 ounces.
