Description
Beautiful inlays and contrasting wood panels on the front continue across the sides to deliver a stately presence.Unblemished wood finish all around--no scratches or dings.
8-tubes like the floor consoles but this one fits on a cabinet or shelf if you've got the space: is 25" long by 17.5" x 14". The bezels around the dial and controls appear as new--no warping whatsoever. Six-inch speaker. AM was bringing in stations loud and clear across the dial just before I packed it up. (I didn't try to get stations on the SW (daytime and no long antenna wire), but it appears to be working. All the controls work like they should except the push buttons. They pop in and out but aren't connecting with whatever they need to connect with. My repair guy says push buttons are best left alone, so I left 'em alone. The tuning eye displays at about (a guess) 50% or so of its original brightness. Case is solid throughout. If I had room for this beauty, I'd keep it, but I've got too many radios and not enough room so I've been letting some of the bigger ones go. Slight disclaimer: I steamed out and refinished a mini dent in the top (it's now totally gone) and a very small (1/8" long) one in the top side molding. If you look really, really close you see a slight dip where I decided I'd better stop steaming. But most of the mini depression is now gone. .Manufactured 1941/1942. Weighs in at (packed up) at 28 lbs and 14 oz.
