    Description

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” black & white glossy new photo reproduction of an early 1920s GMC Log Truck hauling a huge single 8’ diameter log … an amazing load for this little truck!
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION: This little GMC was hauling one heck of a load, a single log looking to be about 8’ in diameter. Still using hard rubber tires with cast spoke wheels, this GMC did have electric head lights. The GMC emblem was still used on the side of the hood at least into the 1923 models, but by 1925 was only used on the radiator. The open C-Cab has a cover of some sort hanging on the driver’s door post, to pull back in cold weather for some minimum protection for the driver. I don’t believe the ‘3/37’ written in the lower right corner of this photo has anything to do with a date, as ‘March 1937’ seems to be too late for a light duty truck like this to still be in operation, especially in an industry as tough as logging.
EARLY HISTORY OF GENERAL MOTORS TRUCK CO., PONTIAC, MI: The Rapid and Reliance truck companies, already under the control of General Motors, were merged in 1911 to form GMC. The Rapid trucks were built in Owosso, MI, and the original Reliance trucks were high-built forward-control trucks. GMC contributed to WWI with some 16,000 2-ton trucks and 5,000 light ambulances.
CONDITION: This outstanding black & white glossy photo is a newly reproduced photo from a vintage photo in my personal lifetime collection.  This photo has been printed on excellent quality HP PREMIUM PLUS GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER using HP 02 Vivera Inks, producing a professional quality photo that resists fading over 100 years ... the best money can buy.  This 8x10 photo has a white border around the photo.
