Description

Undoubtedly, the most beloved percussion instrument among the Uzbeks is the doira.  One side of a wooden rim with a diameter of up to fifty centimeters is covered with a hard leather membrane, and sixty metal rings are fixed on the other side.  With the fingers of both hands, the musician knocks out the drum roll on the tightly stretched skin, and at the same time, he shakes the doira in such a way that the rhythmic beats are accompanied by the melodic ringing of the rings.
