    Description

Lot of 5 8" x 10" glossy photos, one of which is labeled "Clairol Show June 13, 1965, Coconut Grove"
These photos are from the provenance below and were stored in Carol King's 3 ring binder/scrapbooks. She is the woman with the word "Clairol" in gold lettering in her hair.
These are all from the same event which was sponsored by Clairol hair color and several beauty supply stores. This seems to be a hair modeling pageant. One of the women has won a trophy and flowers. Some of the views show the women performing and a man singing with a band in the background. This is possibly the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Florida.
    Provenance:
This photo came from the estate of Carol King, formerly Carol Kaufman. Ms. King began her career as a model, then went to work at a Los Angeles area radio station KLJH, where her job was to meet and greet the bands that were appearing on the radio shows. She went on to become a music promoter for several record labels, including Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox. In the course of her work, she was professionally photographed both individually and with bands, musicians and other celebrities.
We will be listing photos from her extensive collection in the coming weeks, so please check back/follow our store for more.  She was one of the first female promoters to work in the industry at the time. Almost all of the autographed photos we will be listing here were inscribed to her "Carol. She collected news articles about herself that describe her journey, and we will be listing these as well.
We do not have certificates of authenticity for any of the autographs or other photos. We are not experts in this area and are describing each item to the best of our knowledge. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions, comments or corrections.
All of the photos in Carol King's collection were all kept in sheet protectors in binders, intermixed with news clippings and articles that mentioned her and her work. Her career spanned the 60's, 70's and 80's.
