    Description

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” black & white new photo reproduction of  a late 1930s  CATERPILLAR D7 Crawler equipped with a LeTOURNEAU BULLDOZER.
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on t. The he scanned image.
DESCRIPTION: A late 1930s CATERPILLAR D7 Crawler works on a California aqueduct project with the concrete pipe supplied by California-based American Concrete and Steel Pipe Company. The large diameter concrete pipe can be seen in the right background, suspended on a riveted steel overhead gantry. This D7 is equipped with a cable operated bulldozer, operated by its rear mounted CCU with overhead frame work. While I am not sure, I believe the bulldozer to be a LeTourneau. Caterpillar did not manufacture any attachments for their tractors until 1946, with LeTOURNEAU supplying the bulk of the bulldozers, along with some from LaPlant-Choate and various small manufacturers. This photo is very clear and sharp, showing lots of detail.
CATERPILLAR D7: The D7 owes it’s origins to the Caterpillar Diesel Fifty that was introduced in 1933. In 1935 an improved version was introduced, the RD-7. Dropping the “RD” designation with the 9G6501 machine number, it became known just as a D7. More than 7,000 RD-7 and D7 machines were manufactured by 1940.
