    Description

This is a cute little 1939 AM radio in a beautiful cabinet.  I believe it was made by the famed Ingraham company, which made many of the wooden cabinets for Emerson. The compact cabinet is in overall excellent condition, though the top shows some minor wear around the handle area.  That is fairly normal, given that it was designed to be moved around using the
    spring-loaded
handle.  The cabinet is solid wood with no veneers.  It has an "All American Five" chassis with five tubes.   It has very good reception, selectivity and sensitivity using the internal loop antenna.  And of course as with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail.  Please check the reviews on other radios I have restored and sold.
The cabinet was stripped of the original finish, nourished, rejuvenated and balanced.  The top and center trims were redone in black lacquer to match the original as well as the knobs and handle.  The Emerson decal is new.  The entire cabinet was given eight coats of clear lacquer with outstanding results. The spring-loaded handle is in excellent polished condition.  The golden dial graphics are crisp and clear.  The brass airplane style pointer was polished.  The dial cover was polished.  The signature bullet knobs were polished and even have the original felt inserts.  The Emerson decal is new.  The power cord was replaced with a polarized one.  New felt pads were added to the bottom.  The photos say the rest about how wonderfully this radio displays and the charming presence it has.
Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with
    all
paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones.  Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed.  All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated.  Wiring and other components were replaced as needed.  An IF transformer was replaced. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna.
This somewhat rare and very desirable pre WWII radio is now 82 years old and looking like it did when new.  And, now that it is completely restored, it sounds like it too!  It will continue to bring reliable enjoyment for many more years if well cared for.  It is a wonderful addition to a collection or as a gift for someone to cherish.  Dimensions:  10.7.5x5.5”.
This radio will be packaged very carefully for shipment and may be double boxed if needed to best protect it.  It will have packing materials placed between the chassis/tubes and cabinet to reduce the risk of tube displacement or damage during shipment.
The buyer must remove those materials prior to use.
The seller will instruct the buyer on how to accomplish this upon the radio being shipped.
Buyers should note that tube AM & SW radio reception can often be very negatively affected by florescent, LED and other lights, even those in another room.  It can also be affected by FAX machines and other devices.  If you are having reception interference, try turning off those devices and check for improvement.
Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced.
The tubes in this radio are in good
    working order.
The seller cannot guarantee the length of time before a tube will need to be replaced. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off
