    Description

    Antique, authentic, photogravure, by Gebbie and Company, dated 1889.  Note:  This is not a recent or new print.  Gravure is 130 years of age.
    Gravure with matt board measures 13x18 inches.  Art paper with image measures 9 1/2 by 12 inches.
    The subject is "The Last Moments of John Brown".  This subject was displayed and executed by Thomas Hovenden at the 1889 Paris Exhibition.  John Brown was a zealous abolishionist, and gave up his life so men could be free.
    This piece is in fine condition, showing a microscopic dot on matt, and one on image...barely worth mentioning.
    This photogravure was found in an art folio with 99 other gravures and mezzotints, and was purchased after the Paris Expo...Please note, the hardback red folder is not included.
