Description
This item is fairly rare. It probably belongs in a museum. American Optical is still around, but they are not the premier opthalmic lens, frame and equipment producer that was once a household name world wide in the middle part of the last century. This device uses a simple radiometer and light source along with glass filters of different darkness to show that infrared light can pass even through the darkest of tint, but not through American Optical Cosmetan Lenses. Cosmetan lenses were before my time as an optician, but this device is a real conversation piece even if you are not in the optical industry and is in nice enough condition to display. It still works. The glass slides are a bit chipped in places and two are very dirty with some sort of substance on them that resisted cleaning with soap and water. This item will be carefully packed to ensure damage free shipping.
