    Description

This is a 5 gallon Ransbottom Brothers Pottery Company stoneware butter churn, with the cobalt blue crown 5 makers mark glazed on the side.
Our understaning is that this is an older 1900-1920 Ransbottom Brothers piece and should not be confused with the later Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery Company that started production in the 1930s, also in Roseville, OH, and used a similar crown mark, but it was impressed in the clay instead of being applied as a cobalt glaze.
The 5 gallon churn measures 17” tall, with the lid on, and is around 10” wide. The lid has a hand-written 3-4 impressed into the clay on one side of the top and USA on the opposite side. The base and top are in excellent condition, with no cracks, which is no small feat considering its 100 year old age. The only condition issue are four very minor flakes from one side of the base bottom rim. These in no way affect the integrity of the piece. There is no wooden ladle to include.
This is a very, very heavy piece. We always pack well and charge actual shipping costs. Please ask any questions before bidding and thanks for looking!
