Spinning has been the craft I picked up last, but has turned into my most productive one, channeling zen-filled hours into yarn for my knitting. But I've got extra materials in this discipline, as in my needle working pursuits, so I'm offeringthis pound and a half of beautifully commercially dyed roving, in two bumps - one of them 1 lb, and the other a half lb of the same dye lot dubbed Violet. I've always considered Violet a difficult color to track down - they come in purple tones and blue tones, and it's a really hard shade to photograph.
But this is more on the purple, than blue side, and has a really nice hand. I've been storing this in my crafts storage room, and it does not have any labeling to let me know what company produced it - or what breed of sheep grew it! But it might be merino - kinda feels like merino to me, perhaps not the finest grade, but probably good enough for apparel, as long as it doesn't sit right next to the skin. I'd planned to use it to spin yarn for knitting afghans, and it's plenty soft enough for that!
It’s time for me to downsize my smoke-free, pet-friendly home craft studio collection to something I might have a chance to finish in one or two lifetimes! I’m hoping to find eBaying stitchers out there, ready to sit down with their spinning wheels to 'spin a fine yarn' for an anticipated project, simultaneously keeping hands busy in these times when we are “safer at home”. What a blessing to be able to turn our unexpectedly idle hours into productive ones!
