Xavier Opera Gala, [New Orleans] Municipal Auditorium, March 8, 1967 [cover title]
New Orleans, Louisiana: Xavier University, 1967; program probably written and edited by Sister M. Elise, head of the school's opera program and director of this Gala.
Xavier was an historically black college in New Orleans Louisiana. The casts of the operas produced -
FAUST, IL TROVATORE, DON CARLO, CARMEN, and AIDA -
were all African Americans. Of course the school showcased scenes from these many operas for the Gala - not 5 complete operas!
20 pages + original front cover [lacks rear cover which was likely blank - see condition description]
As of 7 June 2020 I couldn't find this item listed anywhere else on ebay.
    Finished size is 6
    1/2
inches x 10 inches; opens for perusal to 13 x 10 inches. Profusely illustrated.
All of these talented young Xavier University singers would now be in their early to mid 70s. If one is a member of your family think how much having a copy of this 53 year old program would mean to them!
(Starting 18 March 2020 - though I'm social distancing myself and have absolutely no symptoms - I will rub [until dry] a fresh dollop of hand sanitizer into my hands immediately before picking your items from my shelves and packing them - and again when I mail them).
