    Description

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” black & white glossy photo new reproduction of a ca.1963 AUTOCAR Model DC9364 with a MAXON Side Dump Concrete body, owned by WILSON CONSTRUCTION CO., Wilmington, DE.
This is photo #2 of 2 Wilson Autocar/Maxons.
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION:  This AUTOCAR DC9364, powered with a 190-hp Cummins HRF diesel engine and 20-speed transmission, carries a MAXON Side-Dump Concrete Body, most likely an 8-CY capacity, on a new highway construction project at a large portable central mix concrete plant. Wilson #168 is being followed into the plant by another Wilson Autocar.
MAXON INDUSTRIES: Glen Maxon Jr. worked for the T. L. Smith Company in the 1930s, involved in developing quicker and more uniform concrete mixing for the TVA. During the 1940s he formed his own company in Dayton, OH, and designed the MAXON DUMPCRETE … a non-agitated rear dump concrete hauling body built for single axle and tandem axle trucks. Glen Maxon Jr. is often referred to as the ‘Father of Central Mix Concrete”. He later also invented and manufactured the MAXON SIDE DUMP CARRIER and Concrete Spreader for high volume highway and airport concrete jobs. The MAXON AGITOR followed, and is still produced today by Maxon Industries of Milwaukee.
WILSON CONSTRUCTION CO.: I know nothing about this company, other than they appeared to be a large high producing concrete paving company in the mid 1960s.
If you have any knowledge of this company, please let me know … thanks!
