    Description

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” black & white glossy new photo reproduction of a WALTER DIESEL Heavy Duty Dump Truck, believed to be from the 1950s or 1960s.
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION: My original photo of this WALTER DIESEL DUMP TRUCK was said to be a 1950s model, but I believe it could be a 1960s as well. Known for their Snow Fighters and Airport Crash Trucks, Walter also custom built dump trucks for use in heavy construction and mining. This Walter is most likely powered by a Cummins engine. The make of the twin-teloscopic hoist Rock Body is unknown.
HISTORY OF THE WALTER TRUCK COMPANY: Founder William Walter, a Swiss engineer emigrated to New York in 1883, and by 1909 had made his first truck, and his first 4x4 by 1911. By the mid 1920s the Walter 4x4 began to take on their distinctive snout with the front axle set back under the cab, pioneering this design that would later be used by FWD, Oshkosh, and others. During the 1930s the company diversified into specialized fire appliances, construction, mining and concrete trucks, as well as logging outfits. Walter has remained a major force in the specialized all-wheel drive market. Originally built in New York State in several locations over the years, as well as in Canada, the company is now part of the Kovatch Organization in PA, a manufacturer of specialized truck equipment.
