    Description

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” black & white glossy new photo reproduction of an 1948 MACK Model EGU Open Top Delivery Truck for SINCLAIR OIL COMPANY. This professionally-taken photo is in exceptionally sharp focus.
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION: My original photo was taken by a professional photographer for JACOB PRESS SONS, Motor Truck Bodies, 501 w. 33rd St. in Chicago, IL, on the Chicago south side. A very similar photo appears in the Iconografix book series on Mack EG trucks, and is dated July 1948.
MACK MODEL EGU: The EG Model was a medium duty truck in the E Series, built both in conventional and cab-over-engine style … the COE being given the designation of EGU. The early EG was equipped with a 290-cid 6-cylinder gasoline engine, upgraded to a 330-cid 6-cylinder gasoline engine after WWII. The GVW of the EG Series was 16,000 lbs. Some 7,349 EG Models were built from 1938 through 1950 when this model was discontinued.
JACOB PRESS SONS: From what I can determine, Jacob Press Sons was founded by a German immigrant in the 1850s making wagons, carriages, and buggies. I can only guess that in 1948 the firm was still in the truck body manufacturing business and made this open top steel truck body to be mounted on this EGU Mack for the Sinclair Oil Company or one of their distributors in the Chicago area. Clayton M. Press, Sr. ran the company for many years, passing away in 1998. As of 2009 I found locations for Jacob Press Sons in Bridgeview and Joliet, IL, both suburbs of Chicago.
CONDITION: This outstanding black & white glossy photo is a reproduced photo from a professional vintage photo in my personal lifetime collection.  This photo has been printed on excellent quality
    FujiFilm
