Up for bids is a 1942 Zenith table radio model 5D628 in a walnut veneered wood cabinet.
Introduced in mid 1941, the 5D-628 is a 5 tube set covering the AM broadcast band.
The cabinet is in good shape with no veneer issues.  The brown toning lacquered finish shows lots of wear.  The original faux finish trim is about 85% intact and acceptable as it is.
The set has its original grille cloth that's a bit frayed.  One knob is present but it is incorrect.  One chassis bolt is missing as well.
The On/Off/Volume control pot is sluggish and close to frozen. As such it is untested.
The dial and "Z" dial pointer are both in good condition.  The dial string is broken or missing.  The original plastic dial cover has no cracks.
The Zenith factory installed loop antenna is intact.  The pressboard back
is missing but reproductions are available on the web.   Dimensions of this good looking 1942 Zenith model 5D625 are 7 5/8 inches tall, 11 7/8 inches wide and 6 3/4 inches deep.
