"1939-1940 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR" SOUVENIR DIARY BOOK
- 4.25" x 5.5"" x 1". Hardbound with textured leather-like binding.
This five year diary is well made with original metal locked clasp secured in place (key itself is missing). Cover includes a 2-color litho image of the famous Trylon and Perisphere, the modernistic structures that became the central symbol of the fair. An interesting souvenir for the 1939 World's Fair aficionado.
Condition is considered FAIR with moderate surface/stain/edge wear. Key clasp strap has one 100% split and clasp key is not included. Glue of inner spine has separated from binding, though book pages are still well bound. Moderate surface creasing on inside pages with scattered minor pencil markings. Scattered small edge tears (largest being approx. 3/8" on lower left cover corner). Generic inner cover title page appears missing. Otherwise, diary pages appear unused & complete with fabric bookmark ribbon still attached.
Overall, we feel the graphic "look" of this dairy book is still quite appealing. Despite defects, we feel this is a very displayable souvenir by most standards (see photos).
It would make an uncommon original display for the discriminating 1939-1940 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR enthusiast. On a condition code scale of 1 to 10, the above listed item(s) rated - (6).
