The 39-40 New York World's Fair has been said to have been the best fair ever. A wonderland of pavilions was constructed on a former dump in Flushing Meadows, showing unbridled optimism for the future. This particular group is in black-and-white, with a focus on the sculptures, fountains and outdoor exhibits at the Fair. It's hard to believe the size of some of these sculptures - the George Washington figure, for example, towered six stores above the visitors. There were other marvelous exhibits in this collection, including a full-sized Pennsylvania Railroad engine that was run under power on a giant set of rollers so visitors could see the wheels in motion from close-up. These pictures are all original shots taken from the negatives and are not scans of previously published images.
This auction is for a CD of photos from the fair. The original negatives have been professionally scanned at 2400 DPI and have been digitally corrected, with dust and scratches removed. There are 51 photos for a total of 304 MB. Here is a detailed list of the pictures included:

These photos are offered for your personal use only and cannot be resold, redistributed or used online without advance permission. They are copyrighted images and I retain the copyright. If you have any questions on this please let me know before bidding.
I offer two options for domestic shipping. The first is via Priority Mail, with the CD protected by bubble wrap inside a box. If you want to save money, I also offer First Class shipment with the CD in a manila envelope. I will be glad to combine shipping on multiple orders if paid for together - all multiple CD orders are shipped through Priority Mail at actual cost (no handling fee markup).
International buyers
: Shipping is via Air Mail. Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.
