Charlie McCarthy AM Radio
Broken Chassis
for Part and/or Repair
This is a wonderful find....picked this up at an estate sale
This is being sold "AS IS"
I took the removed the radio from the chassis portion so I could show you the inner workings
I plugged in the radio...and....Viola....tubes light up...radio powers on...you can hear static and tune the radio
but you can not really make out what the station is saying...pretty exciting that it actually comes on and tunes in "stations"
You can see in the pics that a few of the components are probably in need of replace (the "split battery like things on the bottom", etc.
The one picture is the radio unit plugged in showing the tubes lit up and the small bulb which is the backlight for the dial lit as well
Chassis is broken, left side that was originally the "slotted speaker cover side" is broken off
There are a couple of minor cracks to the front of the chassis as well behind "Charlie"
Everything on this is original....Charlie is a cast iron figure....paint on it is original and is worn and chipped, his monical is the original wire monical
Knobs are the original "pinch top" style knobs...both turn freely and function as they should
Cord is original and is dry, brittle and cracking throughout, plug end is broken off...it will need to be replaced
The "antenna cord" is the original "cloth wrapped" cord..still attached and in good condition
When I removed the chassis from the radio...the original Majestic paper sticker is still affixed to the side inside the chassis
