Description
This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” black & white glossy new photo reproduction of a MACK ER/ES-SERIES CHAIN DRIVE Tractor and Tandem Log Trailer hauling a huge single old growth fir log in OREGON, most likely from 1938/1938.”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION: Exact date is unknown, but the only E-Series Macks that were chain-drive were produced from 1937 and 1938 until being phased out in 1941. This full 8x10 photo is borderless on the sides with a white margin on top and bottom.
MACK ER & ES MODELS: In 1937 & 1938 Mack introduced 2 new chain-drive models, the ER and the ES, to replace the famous Model AB “Baby Bulldog” that had been in production since 1914. The ER had a GVW of 20,000-lbs and the ES had a GVW of 23,000-lbs. Only 359 ER’s were produced over five years, and just 75 Model ES’s over 4 years ... the only chain-drives ever built in the broad E Series product line. The ES was the largest in the Mack E-Series. Chain-drives were preferred by many for off-road applications, with Mack and Sterling producing chain-drive models up into the late 1940s. Finally in 1941, both the ER and ES Macks were phased out, to be replaced with the larger Model FP Mack.
