Description
A very fun, unique and seldom seen Philco Transitone Auto radio which was manufactured by Philco to provide music, and entertainment in vehicles produced in the 1930's.Its central tuning head spans 550 to 1750 AM khz (A/M) and is fully cable operational and illuminated with an internal 6 volt bulb. The Tuning head is designed to mount to the steering column, was lockable (keys provided) and its speaker main body connected to it by volume and tuning cables to be installed usually somewhere under the dashboard.
The Tuning Head will require a new band for affixing to the steering column. The adjuster to which the band is affixed to is fully functional and Ok.
This is a untested unit, but appear to be complete with its original wiring and aerial cable.
Gauging by some newer attachment screws, I am assuming it was serviced prior to being stored away for decades before I acquired it, meaning to install it in a Model A roadster I built. (see final photo). Needless to say, it never was installed prior to my eventually selling the Roadster.
This is a 6 volt system and very easily serviceable if needed.
A great addition and conversation piece for your classic car or Rat Rod.
As a aside, I believe I noted a refurbished unit for sale recently for 00.+ Prices appear to be all over the map.
Thanks for the interest, and enjoy the photos.
