The Mercury dime is a 10-cent silver coin minted from 1916 to 1945. Although commonly referred to as the "Mercury" dime, the obverse actually depicts a free bust with a winged Phrygian cap, sometimes referred to as the "winged free head dime." The chaos first appeared in 1916, the first year of Mercury's release, when the public mistaken freedom with a winged cap for the Roman god Mercury, the god of money, commerce, thieves, and trickery. The reverse side shows the fascism that represents unity and strength, and the olive branch that symbolizes peace. The mint mark is located between the root of the olive branch and the "E" in "ONE". The birth of the Mercury dime stems from confusion with the previously enacted bill, which stipulates that after 25 years, the dime, quarter, and half dollar patterns can be changed without the approval of Congress. Officials at the Mint mistakenly believed that they wanted to change the model and began formal competition. Architectural sculptor Adolph Weinman (Adolph Weinman) won the half dollar and dime design, and began to mint in 1916. You can see Winman's initials on the front of the right side of Liberty's neck. The parameter settings of Mercury Dime are as follows: 0.900, 0.100 copper composition, net weight 0.07234 ounces. Sterling silver, total weight 2.5 grams, diameter 17.9 mm
